I've just realised that we are a year behind the rest of the world. Despite being released in may last year, season 3 of Rescue Me debuted on Sky One last night, and utterly destroyed my lingering hatred for the plot of Lost.
I suppose more than anything, it got me wondering just why the actions of a whole building full of neurotic, foul-mouthed and confused alcoholics (recovering or otherwise) with the focus on the collapse of Tommy Gavin's (Dennis Leary) life can capture the hearts of so many. Is it just a dramatised version of Big Brother? Or are we secretly waiting for things to improve for the denizens of that ill-fated firehouse?
I think its simply a more entertaining version of the standard soap opera, where the main character is a recovering alcoholic firefighter who talks to dead people, and whose brother seems to be secretly stealing his family from him. Confused yet?
I'm actually more interested in the song they played for the ending scenes, as it seemed to capture the whole mood of the moment... Anyone else find it frustrating when a series uses a good song that you can find absolutely nowhere else?
I dunno. I just need to keep clearing my to do list and plough on.
Like a fox.
